We are heartbroken by the acts of violence we continue to witness across the country, targeting the Asian/Pacific Islander community. Earlier this week, we learned of two disturbing tragedies.
On Sunday, vandals spray-painted racist graffiti on San Antonio chef Mike Nguyen's Noodle Tree restaurant. The defacement followed an appearance by Nguyen on CNN last week to speak out against the local Governor’s decision to lift the statewide mask mandate.
On Tuesday, shootings took place at three Atlanta-area spas, killing eight people. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent.
As an organization that condemns all forms of racism, hatred, and oppression, we stand in solidarity with the Asian/Pacific Islander community and offer comfort and support to the families and communities who will be forever changed by these tragedies.
I encourage you to stand in solidarity with your colleagues and friends; to speak up in the face of injustice in all its forms; to take care of each other in every way you can; and to continue to seek solace and strength in The Advocates Way.
If needed, we invite staff at Advocates to connect with your supervisors and Human Resources, or visit KGA’s website, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), for additional support.
Thank you for all you do every day to uphold the Advocates Way.
