Skyla earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rivier University. Following graduation, she worked as a direct support staff member in a residential program for adolescents with acute mental and physical disabilities. She then transitioned into a role as a mental health tech in a psychiatric emergency department, where she provided direct care and utilized de-escalation techniques with patients in crisis. Skyla went on to complete her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Rivier University. During her graduate studies, she interned at Wanderlust Therapeutic Services, a private practice, where she then worked as a mental health counselor for two years while pursuing her LCMHC. Currently, Skyla serves as the Co-Response Clinician with the Lowell Police Department.
