Leading a purposeful and fulfilling life usually includes finding the right vocation or career path. However, a job search can be stressful and may pose a variety of discouraging obstacles for individuals facing mental health challenges.

Advocates is committed to guiding people in their journey to meaningful employment. A new collaboration with Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) will support individuals on the road toward employment, practicing their skills and talents and boosting self-confidence.

Competitive Integrated Employment Services at Advocates give individuals living with a life challenge such as mental health challenges a range of services that will empower them to build the foundation they need to enter the competitive workforce in the community.

“Job seekers will begin by partnering with a vocational rehabilitation counselor,” says Stephanie Doss-Robertson, Director of ACCS at Advocates. “The counselor will develop relationships with individuals and explore each person’s interests and skills and assess their needs, set career goals, and determine the best pathway to achieve successful employment.”

“The goal is to ensure competitive jobs that are fulfilling for today and the future,” says Stephanie. “Individuals will continue to work with their vocational rehabilitation counselor to ensure the goals they set are met and they stay on a career path best suited for them.”

Individuals enrolled in DMH’s Adult Community Clinical Service (ACCS) are eligible for Competitive Integrated Employment Services. For more information, individuals can reach out to their staff at Advocates.
