A portion of the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westborough is the site for more than 500 graves for patients with mental health challenges who resided at the Westborough State Hospital from the early 1900s up to 1987.

Committee strives to honor ‘forgotten’ Westborough State Hospital patients
Westborough – In 2010, state officials decided to close the 125-year-old Westborough State Hospital, located on Lyman Street on the shores of Lake Chauncy, and move all of its patients to a facility in Worcester.
